Neighbourhood Watch

Like LETS or Stockport Living Streets, a Neighbourhood Watch scheme can make neighbourhoods come alive.  Neighbourhood Watch is all about safe neighbourhoods.

Many areas in Stockport benefit from local Neighbourhood Watch schemes.  It is a friendly way of neighbours staying in touch and vigilant in order to make the area safe and pleasant to live, work or play in.

Every scheme is different because it responds to local needs. The basic idea is for the community to have close links with the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) and for the NPT to pass on important and relevant information about staying safe and sound.

In that sense, Neighbourhood Watch schemes are not just about reducing crime. They also create communities that care.  They bring local people together who can make a real contribution to improving each other's life.  Some schemes organize street parties, some have 'adopted' grannies and grandads, some are happy to just keep an eye out for each other.

Would you like to start a scheme in your road or neighbourhood?  Nothing could be easier than that.  As a first step you contact the Neighbourhood Policing Team (see below).  They will tell you all you need to know AND help you get organized.
